He couldn't give me a copy (respect) but he let me listen to it on my lunch break an it was amazing. Seriously such a great record. Sonically it reminded me a lot of the Water Curses EP. The playfulness in the vocal swapping brought me back to Sung Tongs and Feels. Still, it's got a new vibe all it's own. I only got to listen once but everything was very immediate. This albums going to be a classic. I can't wait to play it a million times.
Awesome dude, I'm so jealous. What was your favorite track/tracks on the first listen?
Summing The Wretch, Burglars, and Vertical really hit me. I feel like Summing the Wretch is going to be a favorite for lots of people. There was a lot to absorb in just one listen though.
Sweet, yeah, the samples sound great for those ones. Are there a lot of dynamics and changes in most of the tracks?
Yeah for sure. I haven't listened to the samples but I imagine they can't even come close to giving a full image of the crazy places all these songs go. Lots of dynamic shifts/ change ups. So many sweet vocal melodies, so much vocal interplay.
This is awesome! Happy you got to hear it and really enjoyed it. . What kind of feelings did the record give you? I get that each album explores a diversity of feelings, and each record might "hit" each of us as unique individuals in subjectively different ways, but are there things that you think people might clearly experience with this album? like, Feels is pretty high on the "love" feeling and merriweather is "lagoony"; I love the "playful" characteristic you described, that comes across on the single and the samples. But i dunno, what was your experience?
underwater exploration. like an underwater mario level.
